The new Toyota prius LED headlights do appear to be more of a sure thing than the Tesla-style head unit with climate control integration.
As of this time the manufacturer who will be producing the headlights make me feel a lot better about the thought, they will be produced.
More sure than the head unit company I tried to talk to for a Tesla style head unit, and then they said no. 😅 They make the Tesla style head unit for the Camry but not a Prius. I’m sure the Prius for whatever year, sold more than a Camry… but they won’t make it for a Prius!
Any wooo. For my Plugin, the OEM headlights, if one goes out, I don’t replace a bulb, I replace the complete housing. Thinking ahead, you know, since one housing costs roughly ~$600 USD, and it’s not like I can just go and buy one at the dealer. The top portion of my current headlights has a cool little light strip, and I don’t want the amber reflector… I know. The US… has to have…
Who is to say that it has to be as big and in that spot? It could be somewhere else and still look good on the headlight, right?
So now, let’s say someone backs into my front bumper, no frame or engine damaged, just both headlights and hood. That’s $1200 alone, right?
So I’m starting to save now because the word is 12 months from I think this month or next they will be available for purchase they just take time to get here and to be produced.
The best part, is I should be the 1st to have a picture of them on my car
