The yellow tape and aircraft spray with the tracking dots does help but…. using the red light appears to really help my RANGE scanner capture the details of the object being scanned. I will try it on a few other objects but this was outside right as the sunset so it was basically dark with limited over head lighting.
What you will see on the images below are the scans without the red light and the sun was setting so there was good over head lighting for this outdoor scan.
I even used this headlight red light and wow! I have the flashlight positioned right under the 3D scanner and the headlamp on as well! Now I’m curious how the tracking dots methos works, this was just using the object features to track the scan.
The pictures are of each scan, most not cleaned up then the final merge.
