While traveling the country, I learned it’s better to have one of the major cellular carriers with you. It never fails. One will be the more robust, faster data carrier in any particular area. I currently use a MINT MOBILE chip inside my Inseego M2000 5G Hotspot. The USB-C port on the M2000, I connect the opposite end to the USB port on my Raspberry Pi 4b running OpenWRT. The Raspberry load balances all the cellular data connections so that I always have a solid internet connection.
You can also use the MINT MOBILE chip in a USB Modem!
