For the longest time, I wondered why Gen 2 owners would replace bad cells or whole batteries with refurbished or used cells versus upgrading to Lithium.
Well, I decided to give it a go and install a module from my 2013 Plug-in into my 2008 Prius.
The 1.1kWh Lithium module from a 2013 Plugin Prius is going into a Gen 2… and it appears like a plug-and-play harness is all that’s needed to make it work… 
I am waiting on the last remaining electrical parts/cables to ensure this will work as designed.
This means, that when you need a new battery for your Gen 2… for less than $1,000 you be able to have one that’s lighter and has a larger storage capacity while being Lithium!
